What is PRONATIV?
PRONATIV is a native whey protein isolate made by Lactalis Ingredients and sold as an ingredient to food and nutrition companies. Lactalis Ingredients is part of Lactalis Group, a family-owned dairy company that creates healthy, tasty products for everyday life.
What is native whey protein?
Native whey protein is a different kind of protein. It comes from one single ingredient: farm-fresh milk that’s cold-filtered to keep all of its natural nutrients without unnecessary fillers, production residues, artificial ingredients, or chemicals.
Since PRONATIV is a native whey protein, it delivers all the nutritional components of a complete milk protein while filtering out extra lactose, sugars, and fat.
Where can I buy PRONATIV?
PRONATIV is not sold on its own. It’s a core ingredient in a variety of protein products from top brands, including Cellucor, Rivalus, Designer, and Kaizen.
Where can I find more information on PRONATIV’s clinically-proven results?
More than 15 years of research have been conducted on PRONATIV native whey protein, which is also called “soluble milk protein,” in various publications. You can read about the physiological effects of PRONATIV in this SPINS State of the Beverage Industry Report from 2018. For more details or any questions regarding these results, please get in touch with our team.
How much do I need to take?
15 grams of PRONATIV – one standard serving – includes 3 grams of Leucine, which is 17% higher than traditional whey proteins. And that’s all it takes to activate and maximize muscle protein synthesis (MPS). Additionally, due to the higher concentration and bioavailability of Leuiciner, PRONATIV is far more efficient for muscle cells. As a result, consumers not only activate MPS quicker, but their bodies are also able to support and optimize and improve overall performance.
For more information, see this report from The Journal of Nutrition.
Can PRONATIV only be used in protein powders?
No. Because PRONATIV is an ingredient, you can add it to any recipe. It also has no discernable aftertaste, which means it won’t disrupt any native flavor profiles. PRONATIV concepts also go beyond traditional protein powders and can be added to bars, gel-like protein pockets, energy drinks, and more. What is muscle protein synthesis?
Muscle protein synthesis (MPS) is the process of building muscle mass, which is one of the primary reasons people take protein. MPS is essential for recovery after a workout because if muscle synthesis exceeds muscle protein breakdown from exercise, your muscles will grow. Additionally, MPS helps rebuild hair, skin, organ tissue, and more.
What are amino acids?
Amino acids are organic compounds that help develop protein, which ultimately helps develop muscles. Our bodies need specific amino acids at specific ratios so we can better absorb vitamins and nutrients for muscle formation. PRONATIV is far more efficient for muscle cells compared to traditional whey proteins. Our bioavailable leucine and unique amino acid composition are proven to trigger and support this muscle formation.
Key amino acids in PRONATIV:
- Leucine: activates muscle protein synthesis
- Tryptophan: supports brain function
- Cysteine: supports mental health
Does PRONATIV cause any discomfort in your stomach?
PRONATIV has the perfect ratio of amino acids, which naturally matches your body’s needs. This means your body has an easier time turning these amino acids into energy and absorbing the protein. PRONATIV is easy to digest and actually makes your stomach feel better since there is no bloating.
Why is PRONATIV foamy when I add it to a shake?
Because PRONATIV is undenatured, or unprocessed, it’s naturally more sensitive when interacting with air. This is what creates the foam. Other protein powders might not be as foamy due to the presence of high levels of fat, and these added ingredients may not be transparently labeled.
Is PRONATIV made from pasteurized farm-fresh milk?
The milk used to make PRONATIV is pasteurized once at a low protein concentration (4%) which does not impact the native aspect of the protein.
Does the drying process impact PRONATIV’s protein quality?
No, the drying process does not impact or change the native aspect of the protein.
Does PRONATIV pay attention to how its animals are treated?
Yes. Farm-fresh milk from healthy, happy cows is a core tenet of ours here at PRONATIV. Our staff members work incredibly close with farmers to ensure their cows are safe and their practices respect the environment. These small, family farms feed cows natural grass and other necessary dietary supplementation that’s locally sourced and grown.
Each one of our cows is taken care of individually with regular check-ups to reduce unnecessary stress. By ensuring regular health, our cows are able to enjoy the pasture and roam freely for more than 75% of the year.

Where is PRONATIV made?
PRONATIV is one kind of protein with two sources – France and the US. In France, fresh milk is produced on a small family farm only 45 miles away from the Lactalis location. In the US, Lactalis works with multi-generational family farmers from a dairy farm near Nampa, Idaho. These farms are less than 25 miles from Lactalis’ Nampa location. The proximity allows for a natural collaboration and the freshest milk possible.
Is native whey protein a marketing fad?
No. 15 years of research has been conducted on PRONATIV native whey protein. For more information on the proven clinical results, read the latest research here.
